Pathways Job and Career Readiness
The Pathways program is both an Early College and Career readiness program. Students will meet professionals from many industries, learn about possible future careers, receive training in professional skills, and have the opportunity to develop those skills through job shadows, internships, and jobs. Students will build a network of professional contacts and gain impressive experiences, which will give them an advantage in the future when starting a career. Through Pathways, students will gain the skills to be successful in ANY career field, not limited to business, technology, or health.
Work-Based Learning
Job and career readiness activities are called “Work-Based Learning” because students will not only learn about work, but will have the opportunity to learn through work.
Starting in 9th grade, you will learn important job readiness skills through in-class workshops, mentoring from professionals, and visits to local companies.
In 10th grade, you will participate in a 6-week job shadow at a company or organization to learning about a career you are interested in related to your interests.
Between 10th and 12th grade, you will have the opportunity to apply to PAID summer internships at companies and organizations you are interested in.
Here are some examples of PAID internships you can apply for: Liberty Mutual, John Hancock, SAP (software company). Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Tufts Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Bar Association (law), Oxford Properties (real estate), Boch Center for the Performing Arts, National Parks (outdoor jobs). ABCD Daycare, BCYF Camp Counselor
